Hackathon at OECD Ministerial Meeting in Cancun

The Ministry of Economy in Mexico requested us to co-organize a hackathon during the OECD Ministerial Meeting on Digital Economy in Cancun on June 2016.

The main purpose of the hackathon was allowing leaders of government and IT industry to witness the creative process of young people working together to build technology solutions to address global challenges. This mission was accomplished with great success, and the participants of the ministerial meeting were impressed with the energy and creativity of the participants, who over 24 hours built innovative solutions around issues: social inclusion, smart cities, cultural heritage and entrepreneurship.

The #hackathoncancun was attended by 170 developers from Mexico, Colombia and Canada. It had the sponsorship of: AT&T, Cisco, Disney, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, Verisign, and the Technical Advisory Committee for the Internet in OECD (ITAC).

SG’s role mainly focused on the recruitment and relationship with developers, as well as the onsite production and logistics. Since most of the project stakeholders and sponsors were not based in Mexico,  Software Guru also helped them resolve all local issues.
